Chris' thoughts and inspiration surrounding 'The Falls':

I used to visit Minnehaha Falls as a child and always had a vision of a great ethereal image of the water flowing. The timing had to be right as the pool isn't always at a level I needed to create the image of the water ribbons.

Formed over 8,600 years ago by glacial activity, the 53' falls were a sacred gathering place for the Dakota people. The name "Minnehaha" derives from Dakota words meaning "waterfall" or "laughing water." The site gained international recognition through Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem The Song of Hiawatha, which featured a character named Minnehaha—named after the falls, not the other way around.
